Some of the World's Coolest Christians

There's a logical fallacy called 'appeal to authority' which is the mistake some people make of thinking a thing is true just because someone clever said it. That in mind, this post is not an 'appeal to awesome'. Although it could be a response to people who think Christianity is just 'not cool'. Whatever it is, enjoy this list of cool Christians.

Bob Dylan

Undeniably one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the last century, famous for his political protest and anti-war songs. Dylan released two albums full of songs about belief, worship, and Jesus. 'Slow Train Coming' in 1979 and 'Saved' in 1980. The song below from 'Slow Train Coming' was his first hit in three years, winning Dylan the Grammy for best rock vocal performance by a male in 1980. Bob Dylan - Gotta Serve Somebody

Mr. T

TV and Silver Screen unstoppable hard man is one of the nicest, caring, and most evangelical guys you'll find. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, he gave away all his gold, stating, "As a Christian, when I saw other people lose their lives and lose their land and property... I felt that it would be a sin before God for me to continue wearing my gold." After surviving a bout with cancer, he often says "To have a testimony, you have to be tested" which is a quote I love.

Alice Cooper

The Godfather of Shock Rock is famous for making a rock show look like a horror movie, but his stage act is just for fun. Despite his fearsome image many of the messages of his songs were to avoid evil and Satan. "I am the perfect example of a prodigal son."

Johnny Cash

Everyone's favourite country icon (maybe) the Man in Black was born again in 1968. He wrote a Christian novel called 'Man in White' and made a spoken word recording of the entire New King James Version of the New Testament. Johnny Cash - Jesus Said

Bill Murray

Raised in a Catholic home, his sister a nun, Murray even has favourite popes and wishes that mass was still read in Latin so that it would feel more authentic.

MC Hammer

Controversial as it may seem to place MC Hammer on a rocker's page listing some of the coolest people, it's happening. The hip-hop legend is an ordained minister.

Tom Hanks

One of the best actors of our time starring in many of the centuries greatest films (and some not so good to be fair). Hanks seems to have joined the Greek Orthodox faith.

Rev. Run

As in Run from Run-DMC AKA Joseph Simmons. He's a practising minister.

Dick Van Dyke

There aren't many people cool enough to pull off that minefield of a name. He often teaches at his local Sunday school.

Bob Marley

Having been a Rastafarian all his life, it wasn't much of a leap to go from that to Christianity towards the end.
