What we do:
But in your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behaviour in Christ may be put to shame. -- 1 Peter 3:15-16
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. -- 2 Corinthians 10:5
And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also -- 2 Timothy 2:2
How to do it:
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let
your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know
how you ought to answer each person. -- Colossians 4:5-6
And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. -- 2 Timothy 2:24-26
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work -- 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. -- 2 Timothy 4:2
Why we need to do what we do:
As he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. -- 2 Peter 3:16
Our one weakness?
And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain -- 1 Corinthians 15:14
